Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Control Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
